rbluesy77 , format the player using Windows first.
Connect the player via USB, then right click on My Computer selecting Manage.
Next, expand Storage > Disk Management from the list on the left.
You should see the player's drive appearing as a RAW drive on the right.
Right click on the RAW drive and select Format.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
