How long have you had this player?
Is it still under warranty?
If you haven't touched it and all of a sudden doesn't get detected on your computer, I would say it's a hardware problem and you should get it sorted under warranty if you can. You can spend time trying to fix it, but it comes down to the physical hardware that's the fault (ie, the board or memory chip is faulty), then chances are you won't be able to fix it.

I've had a player like that before. It would 'look' like it's getting detected, but never showed up in Windows or get detected. I just swapped it under warranty as it shouldn't do that.
