Actually, it's the player's charging screen that is not accurate. When the green light on your charger goes off, you can be sure your player is fully charged. My Nano clone for example would show that it's charged, but it takes more than an hour for the green light on the charger to go out as well.

If i take the player in that "supposed-to-be-charged" state, when the animation stops, it barely lasts 20 minutes of music. If i keep it plugged in until the charger's green light goes out, it gives a good 3 hours of playback.
