Default Re: Newby who should have known better!

Thanks for the replies guys. I've got both those pages saved, ready for the 8GB* one.

BUT the good news is, this one...

4Gb 4G 1.8" Silver Blue Black Green Pink MP3/MP4 PLAYER

...has arrived and so far appears to be what it says. I couldn't get the case off to check the code without wrecking it, so just filled it with about 4GB of stuff and everything plays fine. I emailed the seller for conformation that it was a 4GByte (and not a 4GBit) in case I had to send it back and he says...

"It is a 4GByte MP3 player. But you have to know that the manuafacture is using the below method to measuring the capacity in memory.

1GB
=1,024MB(Megabyte)(Windows)/1000MB(manufacture)
=1,048,576KB(kilobyte)(Windows)/1,000,000KB(manufacture)
=1,073,741,824B(Byte)(Windows)/1,000,000,000B(manufacture)

Therefore, you can see that the capacity of the 4GB flash drive or 4GB MP3 will be around 4,000,000,000(Byte) in windows. If you have any problem, please contact me. Thanks!"

Does this make sense to any of you? I'm a total technophobe tbh.

I'm still going to format it but the mini CD that came with it wont work in any of my CD drives :? I'll let you know if the memory size changes after that.
