As far as i know, no. But unless you solder the chip the wrong way in, you won't fry it. And there are markings on both the chip and player board for where the 1st pin on the chip goes, so it's impossible to solder it wrong if you look carefully.
The trickier stuff is restoring the firmware on the newer chip, you have to look at the "Dead Recovery Guide" in this forum.
