The background noise can be fixed. Just set your screen backlight to shut off after a certain time (Setup -> LCD set -> DarkMode), that'll help save some battery life as well. 
90% of the noise will be gone this way, the ones when you use the menu will still be there though.
You can also try "Operation Deep Freeze" as it successfully worked for me, just look for the topic "How to improve your Chipod quality for free" in this forum. 8) |
