Default [solved] CellTech CT901 Mp4 Not Regognised by MP3set3_68

Hello,
please help me.

I bought a little 1GB mp4 player called a CellTech CT901. I think it's a Malaysian company but it probably just rebrands hardware from China.

It was working fine until a couple of days ago when I deleted some mp3 files and replaced them. Now it shows dozens of folders called "yyyyyyyyyyy" and hangs if I try to open any of them or if I try using the music player. It still works for files on a miniSD card I can insert.

I tried taking all files off the player and restarting it. I read about using S1fwx to backup firmware and MP3set3_68 to upgrade but when I try to use these I just get a message telling me that the "Device is Not Detected"

The player has an option in its Settings menu to Upgrade Firmware but that is a deadend at "Warning: Connect to USB" which cannot be selected. Connecting to the USB port of a PC just makes the user interface disappear to be replaced by an animation of a pc and cable.

Emails to CellTech's support team go unanswered. I'm completely stuck so I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.
Can I reformat the storage space of the player or will that wipe the firmware? Any ideas anyone? Please.

I will upload a picture of the player too.
Thanks
Liam
