This is the technical description of the memory by Hynix:
HY27UH088G(2/D)M Series 8Gbit (1Gx8bit) NAND Flash
Too obscure and tricky for a common mortal... this allows some vendors to say is a 8G (which is true, but of bits ) then if each byte requires 8 bits then is 8G / 8 = 1G of usable storage.

No need of format or do any other operation. If is capable of store the music you said... just enjoy it!
