What this does is to force the player to reboot itself and let it begin accepting firmwares.
However, the problem lies in obtaining a compatible firmware for your player. So unless your player is of the v3.5.xx series and you have extracted a backup firmware before, it is a difficult process of testing individual firmwares until you get a working one.
