Zaphod, i agree with you, the ADI blackfin can probably handle databases - but these Chinese companies don't want to invest in the research in making one - this is why Meizu stands out from all of them, as they concentrated on 1 product and developed very good software
Companies like Ainol and Gemei who use the ADI processor use the same generic software - they just customize the look of the UI. This is also why all rock chips and action chip set players have the same UI.
Individual companies do not want to spend money on making their own software and don't want to (or can't afford) to buy more advanced software for their players.
