Metal Platinum V3 Nightmare
I guess I should have came her first and read all the other problems before buying from Uxcell. I bought the 1gig Metal Platinum V3 and have had about 2 weeks of hell with it. First, I took it right out of the box and when I tried to plug in the usb, it pushed that part up into the player rendering it uncabable of getting a good connection. I should have estopped there and sent it back...but being a hardware tech that wasn't my style. I easily opened it up to find there were no screws connecting the little "mother" board to the case of the player. So, no big deal I thought. I grabbed an old watch and got 4 small screws and fixed it. Perfect I thought. Then I quickly discovered that the video was locking up the whole player at 1 second of play.
I thought it might be a firmware issue, so I ask them about reinstalling it. I told them it was version "Lisong 9.1.50 Wilson" and I didn't see it on their website. They told me it was the one with "067" and when I tried it would say invalid firmware, but they insisted that was the one. It wasn't even close because I wrote down what I had before I did it. I should have backed it up, but I went from their word and thought they were the experts. When it didnt' work they said I would have to try them all to find the right one. Well, you can imagine what that did. Now my player will not do anything except light up the screen and flash once and a while. I spent so much time on this thing to try and bring it back and couldn't. I would have to sit hear all night because I literally tried everything seen on the web. Emails went back and forth everyday for at least a week or more and everytime they wouldn't listen to me. After a week of discribing the issues, they would reply with something like "Wonder why doesn't work, have you tried different headphones?" I would think, what the heck do headphones have to with the usb port and headphone jack pushing up into the player, or how will that fix no menus on the screen. I pleaded with them to just send me another one to keep a customer and right the wrong, because I shouldn't have to pay to return it with no garuantee I would even get it back. I just don't trust them. I thought all they had to do was ship another one (I even provided them with a picture of where the screws were missing for their reference) and all would be well and they would have had a die hard customer, but instead they continued to not listen and treat me as if I was a moron. I have all emails if anyone wants to see some of the replies, just to prove they didn't even try to listen to what I was saying. If anyone reads this it is my best advise to not even get involved with them. If you end up having an issue, you will be put through hell. For me it was worse because of how hard and long I looked for the right player at the right price. As a Father of 3 children I didn't have alot of money to spend and I choose them. Well, my kids won't be getting any birthday presents from that site that is for sure. Just don't do it. They will steer you in the wrong direction and then after many many hours of frustration, their solution will be for you to pay to ship it back (and pay for the insurance)...I am not sending mine back and I am just simply never buying from there again. Someday the firmware I need will be available and if it isn't, oh well I guess. I have ordered from many sites from Tigerdirect to Amazon and never have I seen something this horrible happen to me...not even close. Well, this is my advise but you may get lucky and get an ok piece of hardware, but if you don't you might as well not waste your time, you will regret it in the end. I think for me it became the principle of the whole situation and not losing the money...they sent me one real lemon and why after all they put me through to "try" what they said should I have to send it back on my dime and time? I wouldn't trust they would even fix it if they couldn't build it right to begin with. How about a new motto "Uxcell - at your own risk"
