Hi devious99,

Given the troubleshooting you have already done, I would say the USB connector on the MP4 player is faulty. Some of the pins on the USB connector seems faulty. Some might work and so lets you charge your player, while the others are faulty so not transferring the information through the USB cable to your computer tell it that it has a USB device connected to it.

If you've tried different USB cords and it's the same problem, then it's either the computer or MP4 player. If you've tested other players on your laptop and computer and they work fine, then it only leaves a problem with the MP4 player.

If you email them the troubleshooting steps you just did and mentioned in your original post, to the seller, I would say, you should give the player replaced under warranty it seems the player is faulty.
