Can I suggest that as a precaution you make a "clone" copy of your flash using s1clone which you can download from
www.s1mp3.de
Then if your firmware gets corrupted at any time you should be able to restore your player, it is almost impossible to match the correct firmware to these sorts of player. Maybe best to do this BEFORE and AFTER removing memory hack. These cloned copies may also be of use to others so it would be helpful if you could upload them, perhaps with a photo of your player and the chip numbers inside. Also check the system settings and note down the firmware version that is installed.
This is what I "SHOULD" have done with a player I have, which worked great for a week then gave the dreaded perpetual hour glass....
