Default Having trouble finding working firmware(Updated with detail)

Hi all,

I've got a generic MP4 player (i-m8) 2gb with a 1.5 inch LCD. I've had it for about a year now and I had problems with it from the start. I gave up on it for a few months, but thought I'd try and figure out how to get it working.

I opened it up to check the chip and it said:

samsung 622
K9WAG08U1A
PCB0

Please help, I can't figure it out. I've tried installing firmware 3.5.35 and 3.5.37, the first gives me a black screen, and the second gives me a blank screen, but the backlight turns on.

Any ideas?

Thanks everyone. I tell you what I am so glad this forum exists!

UPDATE: Opened up the player further and found another chip reading ATJ2085. I installed a new firmware and now the screen lights up (wasn't doing that before)

The firmware I installed was this one: http://www.mympxplayer.org/firmware-ver-3537-df506.html
This has the number ATJ2085i. What does the "i" mean?

Sorry, I'm sort of learning as I go. Wasn't sure what I was looking for the first time I opened it up. Could someone please help me?

The details are:

samsung 622
K9WAG08U1A
PCB0

ATJ2085

2 Gigabyte

1.4" LCD display
