Hi Gregor,

what's the make of your player? I got a TEAC which doesn't use SMV but something else, it's presumably based on an ALi chip... for SMV, there's a sourceforge project "smv-show" which might be instructive/interesting for you.

If you come across files starting with an "ALIAVI" string (not "SMV"), and/or a description of the format, let me know. Apparently the structure is similar, every frame starts with that "ALIAVI" string, the first image is a full JPEG, with JFIF header and all, the subsequent ones seem to be somewhat stripped - no need to have the same geometry information over and over.
