Is your player DEAD? if not then I would advise you to wait before you try to "upgrade" the firmware. Member "dancemammal" is working on a firmware extractor for Rockchip players like this.
This could be ready quite soon, then you could back up your firmware (which you know works) before you experiment with firmware, better to wait a little than risk bricking your player!
