Humm, haven't seen this problem before but here are some things to try:
1. Try plugging your player into
ANOTHER computer altogether and see if that computer also displays the file names as "ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo".
2. Try
formatting your player again. See if that fixes the problem.
3. What file system is the player in? Is it FAT32, FAT or NTFS? Try
formatting it through Windows instead as well.
Try using FAT32 instead to see if that helps.
Try those and let me know of the outcome.
