Hi helenerw,

Unfortunately even though the display on your player shows it's charging when it's plugged in doesn't mean the cable is not at fault. There are pins for the charging and the data in the USB plug, so it could be that the 'data' side of the USB cable is faulty.

Some things to try:

1. Try another USB CABLE and see if that works
2. Try that same USB cable on ANOTHER DEVICE instead and see if that works as well.

Majority of these problems start with a faulty USB cable.

Is this the first time you've plugged in your player to your computer? Or has it been ok in the past?
