Ok, Ive had 24 hours to try and get this player working and it is!
The Importance of using good leads.
Its been said many times here to try a different lead, yesterday I didnt have another lead to try with the player but as I could use another player with no problems with the same lead (somehow managed to lose the original lead for this player so its been sitting in the draw for over a week) I wrongly assumed that it must be the player at fault and not the lead.
I think the tolerances on the USB sockets in theses players are not all the same, infact I now know they are not.
I had a couple more different players arrive this morning and thought I would try a different lead from one of these players on the MP5,, low and behold it worked. So if anyone reckons its not the lead because it works for something else, think again and keep 2-3 leads handy.
Right, next point regarding Kiwimagics problem of not playing videos.
I have found so far that the player will only play videos that have been directly ripped from dvd and in the little yellow windows file that I send to my desktop when ripping. The file Icon with Windows media player on, although it is Avi does not play, I dont know why because as far as Im aware they are the same files accept maybe labelled differently. Im going to play around with this today, so I,ll let you know more as I find out.
The picture can be very dark and the colours are a bit too strong so I will try and sort that out by ripping with Vidrop and changing the parameters, other than that the lip sync stays ok although I do notice once in a while a skipped frame but nothing like as bad as the Rockchip 320x 240 mp4 players, its probably only noticable to me because im really looking for it.
If your thinking of getting one of these players just hang on a few days till Ive had time to really play about with it and find all its bugs.
