Try going into your player's menu, there, go to "Setup" and look for something that saids "firmware version" or similar. If you can post the details here, that would be great.
Also, can you post a link of where you bought the player from?
Lastly, is there a SAMPLE VIDEO that comes with your player? If so, can you tell us the details of that? Example, what file extension is it? Is it .avi or something else? Also, what screen size is the video in?
