Thank you for the help, unfortunately I already have tried converting using the latest build of mencoder, still a no go.
FORTUNATELY, I managed to fix the problem, just add this to mencoder:
-mc 0 -ofps 24000/1001 -noskip
The fps is for 23.97 videos.
