You're totally correct about it being a 2 GB player. When I bought it, it was advertised as an 8 GB player but when I formatted it came out to be a 2GB player.

I unscrewed the top half of the player but i couldn't find any numbers on it, just the black screen and a thin brown film but no numbers.

You think you can post a picture of what you're referring to.
