Yes it's definately a Rockchip, it's the RK2608A with 2 HYNIX 4GB RAM chips, i'm pretty certain that Hynix are a reputable firm as they make RAM for Dell PCs and looking at some threads it would seem that Rockchip based players with hacked memory are something of a rarity as they cannot easily be manipulated to work with hacked memory. So maybe the RAM is faulty rather than hacked. I'll have a look at this swissknife and see where it gets me, thanks to Th3_uN1Qu3!
