Unfortunately you can't "remove" the firmware, you will have to REPLACE it with one that is compatible with your player.
Do you have a copy of it on the CD that came with your player? Otherwise unfortunately you will have to search this site as well as search
www.s1fw.com to try to find a compatible firmware for your player.
