Hi All,
I really need some assistance with my MP5 player.
It was working, really awesome, when I got it, DON’T KNOW WHY I HAD TO GO AND MESS ARROUND WITH IT….
I have tried all your listed solutions, I have tried about 32 different forms, I have downloaded round about 348mb worth of drivers, firmware tools, chip detectors…
IM TOTALLY AND UTTERY AT MY WITS END…
Here is what happened, I attempted a firmware update of the device, downloaded and copied across to the device the rkusb.tag and got to see the ‘hidden Partition”
I opened the previously download rk27dm.exe file from rockchips, V1.4.0.
The program detected the mp5 and I clicked the upgrade button…..
After the successfully reported upgrade, I turned on my mp5 to find the interface all messed up. I reconnected and formatted the flash partition and copied my backup of it back into it, thinking that would solve the problem.
Disconnected and turned on, white screen for about 4 second and then back off is all I got. Reconnected and browsed to flash partition, same drive letter, but its empty and as an added bonus, it is no longer the hidden partition but part of the main flash.
Displaying size as 4,012GB free space, tried recopying the rkusb.tag file to there, but still on reconnection nothing.
Tried the rk27dm.exe again, this time it does not even detect the mp5.
Uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, reconnected, reinstalled….. on 3 systems, 2 x win xp pro sp3, 1 x vista ultimate.
It has not one asked for drivers but rather installs automatically windows drivers for the rockchip usbdisk (user usb disk.) tried updating with drivers supplied with your “RK RESTORE KIT” but comes up with error, no information for your device…
Downloaded drives and and and and and you get the picture….
I’m now prepared to through it in the trash and forget the money, please could you help me I have no where ells to turn and I’ve been at it none stop for 13 HOURS!!!
I don’t have a brand name but its Blue/black, “M” instead of play button.
Rk2706 chip, Samsung chip also with markings: “340, k4s281632E, tc75, vrh36pzn korea”. A hiynix flash module and a small chrontel chip.
Looks exactly like the Coversion Free 3" 16:9 QVGA 4GB MP4 MP3 MP5 Player LA2-4R sold by:

All the specs on the site and the specs on the leaflet is the same…
No other labeling or markings found inside or outside, nothing on the VIRUS RIDDEN driver disk that came with it (nothing runs from there anyway, all exe’s read only… ) and nothing in the small leaflet.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
The bad thing is, and this is why I cannot through it against a very tempting brick wall, is that is was an early Christmas present… and I messed it up after exactly 3 hours from getting it… 8) very cool I Know.
Please i beg you help me get this thing back from the grave. I bow to your endless wisdom!
