Review of the Nationite S:flo
I was waiting for the OS-43 release to get my pre-order in Mp4Nation, when I decide to get an S:flo to me in the same website…
What a damn good idea! Those players were my very own ticket to become a gadget’s addicted.
The S:flo is a very good looking player, small and portable, with a powerful audio (thanks to the Wolfson audio chip inside) and capable to reproduce a huge type of digital formats of video and music. My player comes with 8GB of internal memory and is not a fake one, like the unbranded player I have at home.
There is a really extended list of good things about the player. It has a very nice UI, with few funny features like use two fingers to zoom in and out your pictures, or use the same two fingers to change the music information. Also, the “turn of the page” in the E-book reader just blows me up!
It has a 2.8” capacitive touch screen that is near to perfect. It is very sensitive and you need few days to get used to it before stops to hurt your ears with the volume switch.
This player can be customized with different wallpapers (even your pictures can be used… I have a nice Chinese girl at my desktop… lol), background and font color, font size, etc.
The guys from Mp4Nation’s forum are really nice people, doing lots of themes that you can easily use in your player. They give you full support to any question about whatever you want to know about the players, too. That’s a really important thing, because if something goes wrong with your player you can get it fixed without the needing to send it back to the store.
I’m not the guy who likes to be listening FM, so, I cannot say anything about, but just that it worked well when I made a test.
For those who like to stay listening to music the whole day, this player is not so perfect, because the battery just give you something around 10hrs of playback. But, what the hell, get a Meizu Battery Pack with rechargeable batteries and the problem is solved!
I’ve notice that this new firmware (v. 1.04) has a bug in the E-book reader: when using the “medium” and “big” sized font, few words are lost and you can’t read your book at all... But one of the forum’s moderators (Maderin1) alerted me to the small font, which works fine. Well, I use glasses and is not a problem to me to read the small font.
Another bad thing is the place to attach your carrying strap. I was just wondering how strange it feels when you use the strap attached to one of the corners... But, again, I’m just thinking about use the player in my pocket with the nice carrying case provided.
The S:flo is a very nice player. A ‘must have” to everyone who loves little electronic gadgets!
