Default Review for the Nationite OS-43

January, 21st... 42 days after I order my first player in Mp4Nation, the new little kid arrived...
What a long wait for that! But OK. It was a presale and the factory just messed up with the players and delivering dates. Wasn’t sellers fault, he didn’t wait for that, too, and he was a very nice guy, giving gifts for free when he didn’t needed to do that.
So, January, 21st...
The box arrived at my hands and there was my Nationite Editions FiiO E5 Headphone Amp, SoundMAGIC PL-30 Earphones, the free Meizu Battery Pack, and a little black box with the words ONE SERIES stamped...
Oh my god! What can I say about the feelings when I opened the box and finally hold in my hands the OS-43 on all its glory? I knew all the time that would be a nice waiting for that moment...
I think this player is a piece of art. Starting with the body construction, the weight, the colors... Just one bad thing about the looking of the player is the red dots on the Slide Navigation Strip. The player would be a hundred times more beautiful without that.
About the Slide Navigation Strip, it is really weird for the first time… You need to get used to it. But you just need a few time to discover some secrets. After that you’re going to love it.
The video quality in this player rocks! I mean, a friend of mine was watching a test video and I was looking at the player at more than 60 degrees angle, and the image was amazing! Amazing? Not the right word… I have no words to describe that sensation… I have tested a lot of videos, in different formats, and all of the played without problems. Of course, you can not put a high resolution file in it and hope it will play like your $1500,00 computer…
The audio quality is good. I didn’t get the right time to test against the S:flo and its Wolfson audio chip, but soon I will do a review about that. There is an annoying issue (like the S:flo, too): I CAN’T put an entire album to play and then, at the end, the next album starts. I need to select the new album every time, unless I change all my ID3 Tags… Even my cheap unbranded Mp4 can do that, and I think it have a Rockchip, too. Please, if someone knows how to do that, tell me!
About the E-book, it worked fine with any font size. The bad thing is that you need to make a white background and let it on the player, because I didn’t discover how to let the background with just one color. So, I choose the white one as E-book background and then choose the right color and font size to you. You can use it with the pop up menu in the right side clicking the button that jumps exactly to the next page, or just let it disappear and use the SNS. Both ways works really well!
Again, I’m not the guy who likes to be listening FM, so, I cannot say anything about, but just that it worked well when I made a test.
Maderin1 made a brand new theme for the OS-43, and I just tried it in the same day I received my pack. Much better than the one that comes with the player! Congratulations to Maderin1 and many thanks for the good job in the forum and themes!
Bad things about the player… Well I didn’t found any… Little issues will always be there, but if you have a little patience you will fin a way to avoid them. Especially with brand new electronics, they always have firmware and hardware issues, as the red lights back on the SNS that drains battery every time you touch it, and they will be only noticeable if you are in a dark room.
If you’re looking for a very good player with a 4.3” screen, 16GB of internal memory, good for video, audio and e-books at the same time and a damn good price, go faster to get your OS-43 on www.mp4nation.net!
