i'm curious, how old do you think this player actually is? and the chip? i'm thinking maybe the chip is a couple years old and the player a year old?
i heard that many of the newer players with newer chips are very glitchy as of yet and generally unreliable. they do boast better video support as you say though.
do you know the name of a good newer player from china that might be available on ebay?
it would be nice to just drop unconverted files in or have better features than this player. although i did pretty much buy it as a cheap player that is lightweight that i don't really care about damaging or losing too much (this is in comparison to my very large heavy and much more expensive creative zen V W). it is also rather low on memory, only 16gb, so in a way i don't really want the files to be very big anyway. i will prob use it mostly for music, but it is nice to know i could throw some vidz on it.

maybe you know of a newer player that has ipod-like features such as wifi connectivity? i would really like one that is able to update it's firmware and allow new applications or features to be installed on it. maybe this is too much to ask from a cheap player from china that is not supported by a big company like apple, but i really like the idea of a player that can be altered and have features added to it.
maybe you know of a player that can run rockbox?

i find that it is difficult to pierce the whole chinese electronics market. it is so hard to know what chip is in what device and whether or not the thing will work well before you try it. especially when you are dealing with this generic stuff.
