Default Re: Need conversion help please, new to PMP's

Ok, i have XP installed on a second boot drive running dual boot so i can enjoy both worlds. Vidrop works flawlessly and so does the aviconverter 5. something i dloaded from here. I can now take the vids and run them through an inspector and see what i need to do to make them work in 98 if i get the notion to. I had it so close i didn't realize it. I was not putting the audio into mpeg layer 1 (stereo) i was using mono because that is what the mp4 file was using, and ffdshow was not using xvid final to process the video. I believe i can make it work in 98 now using mediacoder. No need to since it works on xp but i hate to not have something working. I am determined to figure out how to fix it up in 98 LoL. Thanks for all the suggestions admin person.

I am also still interested in getting this to work in Ubantu, if you have any ideas i would appreciate it. Now i am beta testing windows 7 also. May try to fiddle around with that os also.

Xp is actually fast on this system and i like it more than i had in the past. I changed it all to look pretty much like 98 LoL again. Still stinky over the security issues though. I went through the registry and shut off raw sockets so thats out the way. WMV fix for the scripting, got my old firewall to work with it also. Disabled WS scripting, installed a worm watcher, file monitor also. Have a registry watcher installed. i think im good so far.

PS. i used a file outputted from vidrop that runs on it to look at the specs. Thats where i found out where i was going wrong.
