Default My ONDA Reviews - VX787

ONDA VX787 V.3

WOW

The new ONDA box! The new Jay Chow album!

My first VX787 (a V.2 8GB player from ebay seller) was filled with the first Jay Chow album. Now I have both albums from this Chinese artist (?) and love to play them to my friends as a joke… lol

There are just few differences between both editions, but all of them in a good way, I think…

The Touch Screen appears to be more responsive, now. That is a good thing, because you need to get used a lot with the V.2 about where the buttons are placed in the screen. I gave the V.3 to my girl and asked her to play a little bit (she does not like touch screen players) and she was using the controls without any problems, so, it is not me, used to the first version!

The fact of the player update the music library every time you disconnect from the computer is a good thing, too. The 16GB take a little bit long to update it, and that’s not cool when you get the player to listen some song and need to wait the update… Ok, I know! I’m a little hurried! :P

A bad side of the player is: SeaSprite does not have too much themes for V3.8 firmware! lol Just kidding!

There are few things to say about the player’s capability:

- Audio through the RK2706 is good enough to almost every ear in the world. It has Microsoft PlayFX, which gives you an incredible sound EQ. The downside is the poor User EQ setting, with only 5 bands going from -6 to +6 and jumping like 2 numbers each time you roll the bar (almost like every player I have tested, except the Meizu M6 SL).
- Video playback is good, if you have files with almost the same size of the screen. High resolution videos will not synchronize properly. And with FLV files you will not have fast forward or rewind, so… Get the S:flo to watch FLV videos!
- The FM Transmitter will work only if you are close to receptor (I think 1,5m).
- The E-book reader is quite annoying. Does not matter what you do, or the font you’re using, it jumps a lot to the wrong place in the file, and you need to search again where you were before the big jump…
- The game that comes with the player is really boring!
- The TV Out works, but I didn’t get the time to test it properly. You just have to press on the TV icon during video playback with the cable attached to TV.

If you’re into big touch screen players, then, go for the VX787. I bought the V.3 16GB from www.mp4nation.net for a very reasonable price (wish I knew the site before buy the first V.2 from ebay, thank god I just sell it for the same price I’ve paid). I like the player a lot (remember, this is my second one!) and for now is the best one I have tested from ONDA. I have the VX767 and VX525 (VX545HD and VX898 are coming home, now), and as far as I can say, the VX787 is the best one for video and audio. I will have a review for the others, soon, and you can compare the players, through the eyes of just one guy!
