Default My ONDA Reviews Prat 2 - VX767

OK, that was a really nice clearance from www.mp4natio.net . It was so cheap that I just bought one… Well… Bad idea!

I need to be very honest with you: the player is not that bad (actually, is quite good) but when you have players like the VX787, OS-43, Ainol V3000HD and Hacha PC90 (just to talk about big screens) to compare, this player stinks! Lol

I will try to be the most impartial about this one.

First of all, the guys from ONDA don’t know how to sell a player. The “Jay Chow” pictures on the box just scary me every time I look to… lol. I already knew the box from my first VX787 V.2, but I was scared again! And what can I say about the pink carrousel horse… Come on, ONDA!

It is nice to see that ONDA always put a screen protector and a silicon case inside the box. Then you don’t need to search for some extra protection on the web.

I have tried this player because it was a button based with large screen, and I was intended to use it to read e-books… pfff… This player may work to English or Chinese guys, but to any language that uses accents (sadly like Portuguese, with all the á, é, í, ó, ú, à, â, ê, ô, ã, õ, etc.) it’s a pain to read on it. Al the accented characters turns into a Chinese one, just like the VX787 when you use ANSI codification (I solved the problem in VX787 changing to UNICODE). You will ask me why I don’t try the same UNICODE on VX767, and the answer is: It just accepts ANSI!!!!

A good point on the player is: You can use 2 earphones! You will loose a little power (battery and volume) but at least you can share your music with someone else!

The Music player is quite good. You will have a good sound quality (not so good like the VX787) and there is a feature that I like a lot: It can play all my folders straight! I was wondering if ONDA would make a player that can do that, and there was the VX767 all the time. The really good thing is that this player can really play .ape! It was the only one until now that plays for sure this kind of file. And my Skyclad albums are all ripped to .ape. I didn’t try the M6 because I just put 4GB of mp3 inside it… Maybe another day… lol.

The EQ settings are almost the same in the VX787, but I didn’t find the User EQ. And when you turn into highest volumes, even with the alphas I got some distortion in all presets.

The biggest points on this player will be the video playback and the built in games.

The player really can deal with a lot of video formats, and even with a resolution bigger than the screen it plays really smooth (but only through the Micro SD card. The internal memory is not that good to play movies and you will note a hiccup every 3 or 4 seconds on large files). I was watching a 2:30 hrs with 900 MB avi video and I didn’t notice any delay. Also a full video concert, with 1:30 hrs and 800 MB .dat. TV Out works perfectly, and together with the player’s capabilities can give you a lot of fun. Now I know why this player was Raz’ chosen one to play videos for so long!

The only thing is that it can’t play MPG and MPEG as the factory says. The video stops all the time and is almost impossible to watch something in that format.

About the games, OK, they are pretty simple, but at least they work! We have Snake, Tetris and some Brick game that can, in fact, be played! It is nice to have these simple games at hand when you don’t have anything to do waiting for someone in a restaurant, or traveling, or waiting in the backstage the right time to go on stage… The VX525 can play flash games, but I like these old and simple games… I will make a review to VX525 soon, and then I will say a little about those flash games.

If you ask me, I wouldn’t buy this player again (as I did with VX787, OS-43 and possibly will do with Meizu M6 8GB white version, just to combine it with the FiiO PS1120 I bought). Please, don’t misunderstand me! This is not a piece of crap. The only thing is that I have lots of better players to play around! But for the price I have paid ($74,90 with free shipping) it was a really good deal! Thanks Mp4Nation for that!
