I think what Windows is trying to do is read or access information in those folders when you click on them and try to delete them so hence why you can't delete them.

I would recommend you backup the files you want then FORMAT your player. That maybe some corruptions in your player's memory chip as well and the format should help.

Also try running a CHECKDISK on it as well to fix any bad blocks or corruptions in the memory chip as well just in case that is the problem. Those funny characters shouldn't appear all of a sudden.
