Most of the DIVX videos I've tried have worked except for the one video I've got that's like 1000x566...but even the specs state it won't support that. My one MP4 format video I tried did not work...I'm not sure as to exactly what it doesn't like about it.
I played a q10 ogg (~500kbps) with no problem. All the MP3's I've tried have worked. All my FLACs have worked. AAC/Mp4/M4a works...however, you CANNOT have the file in the mp4/m4a container (at least on my unbranded player). It treats all .mp4 files as video, so audio files have to be a raw AAC stream (tools on the internet will extract the AAC stream from it.
These cheap players are quite capable. My last player was a 30gig Ipod with Rockbox that couldn't handle q10 ogg or AAC all that well...but it handled Musepack, which is what 98% of my lossy is in.
