A member on MP4nation had the same problem as you.
It was fixed in the end by doing a hard reset (opened up the player and swiped the memory chips)

just to note, for other users of the ZERO bytes problem, this was the hard part as NO tool can bring the player alive from within the PC, i tried all things and no PC would see the memory, i had to resort to a hardware reset of the player (taking it apart and swiping the memory chips)
