and the same for me!
My (alleged) 16GB player gave me problems including corrupt directories and files. I tried a format but just got "Disk Error" messages afterwards on the player!
I eventually formatted it with the HDD Low Level format Tool (took about 30 mins), then I used the MP3 Player Disk tool (on the supplied CD) to wipe it - this took it back to its 17.2MB only "default" setting, then I tried various settings of formats (2GB, 4 GB, etc..) and eventually found that when I formatted it to 1GB this brought the player back to life!!
Hopefully this might help some others!!
