First, let me tell you the whole story.

I entered an eBay auction for this: A Two GigaByte Player

However, I was outbidded by a 'Bot-sniper; I received a letter stating so, no big deal, I waited around for another auction of the same item and bidded. I paid immediately for the item that I won in the second auction (aside: The item took 21 days to arrive from Hong Kong).

A couple of days past and, I received an eMail invoice for the item that I did not win in the first auction; I figured it was a mistake until I got the non-paying buyer threats. I dispute the issue and lose so, I pay for another unit however, instead of being shipped the first unit, I was shipped the 2 GB version of this:

Now, I have two, these were cheap but, they worked. However, my favorite one suffered the dreaded broken touch screen so, I ordered a new one. Twenty-five days later, the third item had not arrived and, I reported it as not received.

There was a go-around with the seller who finally canceled the transaction and refunded my money.

Next day, I get a letter and an invoice saying that I have won this (the 16 GB version):

I never bidded on the 16 GB version and, the merchant started the whole non-paying buyer issue again. I looked at the auction and it shows me "Bidding" on the 4th item against what could only be Shill-Bots.

I disputed the fourth transaction stating that my account must have been hijacked; eBay finally figured it out and informed me that I was not obligated to complete the transaction.

37 days after the sale, the third "16 GB" unit arrived.

Now to answer your question: After reading about the "Hacked" units and, I performed the test and discovered that I can only access 2.4 GB of the so-called 16 GigaByte storage device (Which I had populated with 600 MP3s the first day that it came).

After dumping all the music, I can now save the video and audio clips without the "Record System Error". The error was just saying that the unit was full.

My refund for this hacked piece of crap was processed before it arrived; score one for the little guys.
