Default Problems with 4th Gen iPad Nano Clone

Bought this on ebay. I had trouble getting Windows to recognize the device, and found all this information on memory hacks, etc. Finally figured out it was the USB connector having problems (had to hold the cable just right to make a good connection). Long story short, once I got it connected I tried removing the memory hack (mine said it had 8GB), using the sticky post in this forum. The player seems to actually have 8GB like it says. However after using the MP3 Player Disk Manager tool and format the drive in Windows, I get "Disk Error" when I try to view a file on the player. I can see the drive just fine in Windows, and copy files to and from it, just can't figure out why I'm getting the error on the player.

This is a 4th Gen iPad Nano look-a-like (like the ones picture here: http://mympx.org/plugins/p17_image_g.../images/20.jpg)

Firmware Version says:

2008/09/05
9.5.54
2009/12/01
hxt_asdks15

Haven't cracked it open to look at any of the chips yet. Any suggestions?
