Default My Kaser Mambo Cam Flix player

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Kaser Mambo Cam Flix mp4 player. The product is described here Kaser Online Store. I am very satisfied with this low end mp4 player; the camera, even though it's only 1.3 megapixel, takes very good snapshots, and the "camcorder", which I thought would only be capable of taking blocky pixellated cell phone quality video, actually compares quite favourably in quality to a regular home vhs video camera.

I noticed recently, while browsing through the Titan products website(titanmemory.com) that their model us-071 is almost identical in appearance to the Kaser. The user interface and options are entirely different though, and I find that the Titan user interface is much prettier than the Kaser, and may offer more functionality. Is it possible that these are two identical devices, and that all that differentiates them is the Logo and firmware? If that is the case, shouldn't it be possible to install the Titan firmware in the Kaser and vice versa? I would appreciate any comments on this, especially from owners of either of these two respective players. This would make a great chipod hack!

I have opened up and examined the chip set of the Cam Flix. It is unfortunately based on the Rockchip 2608, and it seems that firmware extraction utilities are only available for the 27xx based pmps. Is there any hope for tools for hacking 2608 based players becoming available? I have seen a number of requests for this on the forums.

This is the second Rockchip based player I have purchased (the first is a Titan US-405) and both are based on the same 26xx series chips. I would love to extract and examine the firmware, but I am hampered by the lack of tools and information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
