I used a similar method to fix up my bootleg machine from ebay and found your post just a little too late. Better late than never eh?

The unit is unbranded but is remarkably similar (aside from the hacked OS) to the MN799 device offered by a popular (bonifide) supplier out of China that most of us will have used or heard of at some point.
