The problem wih being a retired electronics engineer, is people expect you to be able to solve ANY problem with their equipment.
A friend has a SupraTech Jazz Free 512 MP3 player with FM receiver which didn't work..
SupraTech is a Spanish company and their manual is in Chinese Spanish and Chinese English.
The problem was quickly diagnosed as a dead LiPoly battery. (The unit worked fine on a USB port or USB mains adaptor.)
However with a new battery fitted and charged, there is still a problem.
When plugged into a USB mains adaptor the on/off switch powers up the unit.
The display shows "starting" then leaps into the user display and all the buttons and functions work.
Unplug the USB lead and the unit continues to work.
However if the unit is switched on without a USB feed. (i...e. If you are using it as it was intended to be used !!!)
The display comes up with "starting" then displays "Press Key ON" for a few seconds then switches itself OFF !!!
I have tried pressing all the available buttons but nothing changes.
The IC in the unit is an ATJ2051.
Has anyone come across this problem in MP3 players using this chip?
And how did you fix it!!!???
