Default Can you trust players from Amazon?

I've been watching a Colby mp620 (8GB and 4GB) on Amazon for about a month now. AmazonAmazon The prices go up and down on these players like the stock market does. I remember someone leaving a review on Amazon saying that they got one of these players and it was hacked. I was a victim 5 years ago and that chipod was pretty crappy.
I later went to just a thumb drive style player from Samsung which I loved, but it too has died. When I saw this one, I was interested, but I'm still a bit gun shy.
I don't really care about playing video on the player. That was cool back in the day, but re-encoding everything and transferring just to watch on a tiny screen got old fast.
I also want something that is accessible through windows explorer. Not one of these lame players that you have to sync with WMP. I can't remember what they are called. It's not MMC players, but some sort of 3 letter thing. I just want to be able to copy and paste what I want just like a thumb drive and I'm pretty sure that's the way this Colby works.
I don't think this player has one of those little 2.5mm jacks on it does it? I hate those little ones that you have to get an adapter for if you want to use decent headphones on.

So what do you think about buying from Amazon and this player.
