Default RK2708 - USB Connection problem

Hi,

Someone gave a friend a MP player. I don't need to upgrade/flash - I simply need to be able to move files to/from the computer to the player. However the device was given without a cd (with drivers).

The player is labeled "Titan 4G". This is what I saw on the chip:
  • RK270814G1996
  • 7F48425 1010
  • 098Z10000FA1B (possibly last character is 8)
I have downloaded the RK27 Device manager. I have tried 2 different cables.

Windows 7 laptop. Powers the device but does not recognize its existence.

Windows XP comptuer: Powers the device. Installed rockusb.sys (by using the .inf). Nothing. Though at one point Windows did see the device and reported "device not recognized" and that it had malfunctioned. I don't know what I did to get to that point and after a reboot have not been able to replicate this.

Does anyone have insight as to how I might be able to get the player connected to one of the two computers?

Thanks,

Tom
