format question - turn it into fancy watch?
If I use the FORMAT command in my mp4's menu, does it totally erase everything, or just the files? Because I don't want to accidently delete the firmware.
Easychips identifies the 1.5" 6th-gen nano-like player as being by Actions.
It appears to have the new "11 series" chips.
I was hoping to edit the firmware to create/design my own fully animated clock/watch and basically use the mp4 as such, probably with a few different sounds as alarms and animations. Don't care if I lose the radio function or ebook function.
Yes, I know the battery probably wouldn't last a full day even if I put it on to charge every night, but I can always hack in a battery to provide the right amount of power (but one that would last all day).

A manual I found saved in the memory is titled "mx-d61 instructions, GL3966 design spec, davide".
The firmware option in the menu gives this info
