I would actually consider settling for 2GB if e-britain would quickly give a decent refund, but 1GB?!?!?! And he has been slow in responding to my Dispute with him. Hopefully when there are enough of us filing a Item Significantly Not As Described complaint, then we might stand a better chance of raising the awareness to eBay. In the mean time, do not leave feedback yet. Leave it to the LAST MOMENT and drop a negative feedback on them!! STAY WELL AWAY FROM e-britain and his 1GB Players!! DO NOT BID, DO NOT BUY!!! |
Unfortunately I have just bought one of these MP4 players for my daughter for Christmas from Ugoogle or whatever their name is on ebay..
I don't want to tell my daughter Santa Claus sent her a dud ! How can I test it to see if I have been dudded? Can I do it by opening the back cover? Can someone please give me directions on how I can do it without formating the whole thing? I am knew to this and I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks |
PKXXX check a few pages back and there is a description of how to check for the real capacity. You can either try filling it up and seeing where is gets corrputed, formatting it and seeing the real cap, or pop the back and check the chip model number against the manufacturer list. Use google to find that.

Re: The Blacklist
Just a follow up on ugoogle. His feedback is currently getting smashed right now and he has turned the feeback comments to private so unfortunately people can't see the warning messages.
Also, he's sending out unpaid item disputes for the rare individuals whom he has had to issue a refund. I'll be thumping this one back as well. |

An update of my situation with e-britain: e-britain has finally given me a response over the Dispute I opened. He says they are friendly, and asks me to email him and close the dispute. This is a bit laughable, don't you think? He says that they are a "friendly" company. If indeed they were "friendly", they would not have cheated me, and cheated any of you! I am prepared to escalate this to a claim, and I have you guys as witnesses - any money I get back from e-britain I am donating to the running of mympxplayer.org. Furthermore - I sincerely apologise for these embarrassing acts of certain people in Hong Kong and China. Not all vendors from/in Hong Kong are like this. STAY AWAY FROM e-britain of Tronfy Technology Co. LTD., uk@ebuyhk.com DO NOT BID, DO NOT BUY! |
Strummin'Ronin, I think the reason they post an "Upaid Items Dispute" after a refund is because it is the only way to get their eBay commission fee back and it is a final swipe at the buyer who caught them out.
And you are right not all the HK and China vendors are crooks. It is a shame that the scammers make buying a player like Russian Roulette. |
Thanks tadad1- looks like we are getting somewhere:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/fvf-abuse.html Can't deny that fighting these douchbags legally like we are doing now can be dangerous tho... I must admit I am scared of whatever organised crime people that are involved with these scams. Unpaid Item/Final Value Fee Credit Abuse eBay policy does not permit members to abuse the Unpaid Item process. Sellers may not file for a Final Value Fee credit on a transaction where the buyer paid for the item. If a seller filed for a credit on a transaction that was completed, please contact us so we can investigate the situation. Sellers who falsely report Unpaid Items may be subject to a range of actions, including: *Reversal of all credits for the time period in question *Listing cancellation *Limits on account privileges *Account suspension *Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings *Loss of PowerSeller status Some Examples *A buyer sends full payment to the seller and receives the item(s) from the seller. The seller still files an Unpaid Item dispute. *A non-selling seller files an Unpaid Item dispute. Additional Information Buyer Protection If you paid for the item but did not receive it, we encourage you to communicate directly with your seller and/or payment service provider to track the payment and resolve the problem. Please review the eBay Item Not Received process for more information about resolving the situation. Non-selling Seller Policy We understand that on rare occasion a seller cannot fulfill a selling obligation. However, eBay policy does not permit sellers to refuse payment at the end of a successful transaction. If your seller refused to complete the transaction in violation of this policy, please contact us through our Non-Selling Seller page so we can investigate the situation. Why does eBay have this policy? eBay provides an online Unpaid Item process through which the buyer and seller can communicate with each other to resolve Unpaid Item disputes. This policy does not permit claiming credits for Final Value Fees on transactions that were completed successfully. |
Other Ugoole e-britain victims on a photography forum. May be we could join forces?

What i would suggest to those who received an unpaid item strike after a refund, to file a complaint with eBay.
It is under the eBay policy to remove the strike filed by sellers if you can provide proof of payments, email communications (eg refund), etc. http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/appeal-upi.html Don't let the sellers get away with it. Your accounts might also be suspended if you receive too many strikes. |
I've emailed ebay and about the situation and they basically said there isn't anything they can do until the actual strike is given.
However getting it removed shouldn't be a problem as proof of payment and even the refund will be on your PayPal record. So I'm not that worried about it, I just don't want him getting any selling fees back. Also, I tried emailing him direct to send a rocket up the appropriate orifice but it got batted back as no longer registered. Looks like he might be running for the hills. If he does reappear under a new name and someone picks up on it, please let everyone know. |
Re: The Blacklist
Ronin, I'm one of e-britian's latest victims. I didn't even hesitate before leaving bad feedback on his ass. Today, I recieved a letter from ebay....it seems e-britian is unhappy with the feedback I left and wants to do a mutual withdrawing of feedback....HELL NO !!! I dont care about the bad feedback he left me (stating I was a poor communicator) since I have nearly all positive feedback.
I have been stung a few times now from sellers like him, so I plan on going straight to the manufacturers of the chi-pods in future....websites like global source should get me in contact with them |
Hi Uncle Chop Chop and everyone. I have been offered 5GBP as a refund. Considering that I paid 28.89GBP for what turned out to be a 1GB player, what I paid is already a less than average price. So I am going to have a think about the 5GBP, or if I should raise it to like 8.88GBP as a lucky figure for them.
Anyway, for your amusement, this is the address I was given to return my 1GB player to. J Zhang 28-38#, Hongli Youju Shenzhen, Guangdong 518028 China |
Re: The Blacklist
Hi
my user id on ebay is alycate. I didn't spend $ 50 dollars buying a mp4 2gb players. I SPENT 8.700 DOLLARS. !!!!!!!!!!!! I have been on ebay since 2000 and i always buy direct from china but i found a supplier in USA that offered me mp4 players 2gb at 30 dollars. I received the mp4 players and i checked it and i though that they are 2gb. After started selling on ebay one of my buyers claimed that the memory was hacked. he sent me the link for this forum and i started to check one by one and guess what all the mp4 players are 256 mb. i shutted down the listings on ebay and i sent and email to all the persons who bought from me . Thanks god i only sold like 25. anyway i offered a full refund because i had been scamed too!!! . After 5 years selling on internet i couldn't believe that i lost almost 9000 dollars . Thanks god i paid with my credit card and i'm disputing all the charges. I already reported this guy to all the web pages that offer B2B and google because i tough that using google check out to pay i was cover but no!!!! There is a web site to report all the internet fraud and it is operated for the FBI. www.ic3.gov. I think that they will do something because my lost is over 5000 and anything over this amount is not an small claim SOME ADVICE if you find any mp4 player 2gb in less than 50 dollars it has to be hacked. why???? because the price in china for someone to buy quantites is between 50 and 60 dollars. If you are some of the 25 persons that bought and mp4 player for me contact me for a full refund. this is the letter that i sent to all the buyers Dear Valued Customer, I have just received an e-mail from someone who bought an MP4 player and apparently there are some that are defective. And by this, I imply that the memory capacity is not 2GB. Please check your item and make sure that yours is in fact a 2GB MP4 player. I have been trying out different suppliers to see who gives me the best product. And there was one batch of MP4 players which are not what I was promised. If by any chance, you are also a wholesale buyer, watch out for this supplier who you may have come across online: JAYS4DAYS 600 Lake Air Drive, Waco, TX 76710 Phone: 254-379-0806 Attn Person: Chris Brantley E-mail: jays4days@hotmail.com I have already reported this person to the local authorities and I have also made the claim with American Express. So if you are one of the persons who was unlucky to get one these MP4 players, please contact me as soon as possible so I can give you a refund as soon as the item is returned. You may feel deceived and lied to, and for this I am very sorry. I was deceived and lied to as well and I can assure you that this supplier is of my list. Please excuse any inconvenience and I would appreciate your understanding on this matter. See my feedback and you will see that for 50 Dollars I will not put in risk my business Thank you for your patience. Sincerely, ALYCATE CO |

Hi Everyone, like most of you if not all of you I have been scammed by Ugoole when I bought 2 x fake MP4's. I also sent countless emails to Ugoole and got the same bullshit replys offering partial refunds etc. Ebay and paypal are a complete waste of space and do nothing to help the victims. They only care about the profits they are making.
I decided to call the Sun newspaper and email them asking for their help in exposing this multi-million pound scam. I ask all of you who have been scammed to join me and send you story to Charlie Ray - Consumer editor at the SUN and if enough of us do it they will investigate and not only expose the scammers like ugoole but also the tossers at ebay and paypal who ignore our please for help and just send automated emails that just add to the insult. Re: The Blacklist
supermuimui88 Sold me a 4GB MP3/MP4 Player with Radio and Record Function. Following is a list of problems with the crap he gave me:- The Battery does not hold charge. I tried charging it up, with a different plug (Same as the one he sent me, but UK Version used to charge up a phone (Just stick the USB Cable in and go). However the Player didn't hold the charge. Charged for 5 Hours, lasted 1 minute. It is not 4GB its only 1GB. Hee Hee, Was when I got it. There was some problems with it, so I lo-formatted the Chipod. (Yes there was another drive that Windows could not read. It was about 2MB). Hey, it wouldn't be a scam with out this problem. The Player is Brilliant! Just this hich that annoys me... Oh what annoys me more, is the seller is convinced that its a 4GB. (Mate me and 10 or more other people said its not. Ok. Your wrong dude. Loser.) (Sorry, I generally do that. Talking to my self.) I left him a blow on his feed back and he wants me to remove it. (Yeah right. Thats just what i'll do). I have demanded that I either get a FULL refund or he sends me what I paid for. 3 More 1GB MP3 Players please :) It doesn't play MP4's. Erm. Doesn't play MP3s anymore either... (Flashed it thinking an update would fix it. Broke the entire player). I have to convert it to AMV or something like that... Great. There goes my Saturday night. The Charger is US not UK. Dispite my address (Recieving this item) been in the UK. He sent me an US Charger. On top of which, I had an Electrics Expert (My dad) to look at it, It wasn't fit for use, and could of killed me, the house's fuse box and blown my Chipod to pieces. (At the moment I don't know if thats a good or bad thing). One of the wires was dangourously close to touching another one (The RED wire was NOT soldered in!) It was close to touching the BLACK wire. The Driver Disc Contains Viruses. Thank god, I have a virus checker! I used the disc that came with it. Windows (Avast AntiVirus) would not let me install anything off the disc becuase it contained Win32:Trojan-gen. {VC}. FEED BACK I LEFT HIM:- Quote:

I am wondering what to put on his feedback.... Thank you all for your help. |
Update. I have reason to believe:
The scam has been reported to BBC watchdog. Co-incidentally (?) e-britain is not currently offering any items for sale and has set feedback to private. Other questionable MP$ sellers still plying for trade, eg mp3_ex factory2you hkgamez keistore sevenmp4 ... (negatives indicating incorrect memory size) |
Oh
I'm currently in dispute (escalated) with e-britain. Had the feeling he/she wouldnt pay the agreed compensation so... Let's see if paypal meets up to their part of this bargain and helps me out. If not, I know what to tell people who ask's about using eBay/paypal in the future... |

They both used to be good... now, nothing but problems it seems. My last 6 of 7 transactions have been problems. Neither Ebay or Paypal helps out. |

I left my feedback for e-britain short and sweet, saying that the info on the auction is wrong, and I had to open a dispute over it. I only left him neutral tho, since he was willing to and quite swiftly doubled the amount of the partial refund - which has been passed onto very deserved hands. |
Re: The Blacklist
yep E-Britain has tricked me... luckly while i was searching for a firmware upgrade i came across the scam thing i just recieved my product today and I have threatened him so far by email.. just waiting for a reply.. anyway i know this has nothing to do with this but you see there is this koooll firmware upgrade it has tha menus justtt like an ipod could i upgrade the fake one to this or do i have to put another chip inside and patch it?
Oh yeh this is my firmware.. I havent done that tuturiol to fix my fake player to a 1gb but am a little confused.. Heres my firmware and stuff 1.5" act2097_s72_1 9.0.50 I dont understand why when I search this forum its all about 3.5.0... I dont understand this Action thing plus all I want is an Ipod Nano Theme a real one but I dont know anything about it.. like I am a little confused with the 3.5.0 thing |
AmNite, best of luck - I managed to get a partial refund from him, so I hope you'll get at least that. But IMHO get on with starting a Dispute through PayPal as soon as possible.
Secondly, please could you upload your firmware? I could do with the same one that you have, as I also have a 1GB i-pod clone from e-britain, and have messed up mine in the process of getting the REAL amount of memory that has been fitted on it.... d'oh, yeah. I don't mind that dodgy floral theme - I just want the darn thing to work again so I have something to use in the gym, and on my way to work! Please help!! Quote:

Re: The Blacklist
I would.. but I heard there is no software yet to extract the latest firmwares?
|
AmNite, No way to theme you player at the moment, once the new firmware extraction tool is released for the 9.0.50 and 9.0.48 versions then you may be able to do an iPod mod on your firmware.
Actions is the company that manufactures the cpu chips for most of these players. The 3.5.XX series firmware is for players using the ATJ2085 version chip. Your player has a newer chip version either the ATJ2091- to -ATJ2097, these use the 9.0.XX series firmware which is very different. |
