"BRAND NEW Mp3/mp4 players 4GB! Brand new! nano model!! IPOD
TWICE AS MANY FEATURES AS THE APPLE IPOD NANO "
This item came in an iPod nano box and had the iPod symbol in front and in back with a serial number even. The back looked incredibly authentic since I already have a 3rd generation iPod. I knew it wasn't an iPod (been in computers for over 20 years). The thing that got me the most is that it is only 1 GB and the firmware is screwed up! The seller has swooped down for just enough time for Christmas (hence the eBay ID) and has left eBay. Big surprise NOT! :x I have emailed this guy filed a dispute with Paypal & eBay and recieved his "contact information" which of course is in Hong Kong so calling is out of the question but I may try and be resourceful and email him to tears  . I probably won't see any response but it will feel good to do something other than sitting around complaining.

Just one more thing I find it weird that on this sellers eBay auctions is this link: Christmastime 2006 Hacked Player Seller's webpage
Then you try and buy whatever is being offered cannot be accessed and then the one thing that does comes up and says: www.great2buy2005.netfirms.com Error Detected This recipient is currently unable to receive money. (with the Paypal logo)

Sorry for mentioning this after the fact, but I don't think there are any true Apple Nano's with the Apple Ipod logo like that. Are there? If not, I will add this (bold) scam to my eBay 4GB Fake FAQ.

No there is no authentic iPod that uses the logo in front like this one states. I have checked with my 2 teenage girls and it is an unequivocal no there isn't any iPod that has that logo in front. They checked with several of their friends (that own authentic iPods) as well as we own 2 iPods (3rd generation 30 GB and one HP 40GB). My 18 yr old had went in with her friends to buy one for their friend's birthday and it was an iPod Nano, which is what this auction appeared to try and look like. The first screen shot on the auction tipped me off it was not likely to be an authentic iPod. I bought it anyway since it was a good price for a 4 GB not realizing that this seller was going to scam me by not being a "registered seller" after I received a 1 GB. That really is low since nothing will happen as far as hurting their selling or buying status on eBay. I do however want ppl to know what happened so they don't get scammed with the view of what appears to be an iPod. I also believe that they can get back on eBay with a different user name and start this back up. A word to others: even an experianced computer "techy" can get scammed buying computer software/hardware. Hope I can possibly stop someone else from getting had

They are very bold, here is another that is even listed as an Apple iPod
Nano 4GB. They even link to Apple site for warrenty details. Every image used is of an authentic iPod product until you get to the picture of the package contents.
Screen dimensions are wrong, usb cable connections are wrong.

Thanks for the info and pics on the counterfeit iPods, I have added it to my eBay Guide, along with the sellers shinenonline and christmas2006. Its only a matter of time now before Meg Whitman sends the Chinese mafia to stake out my house....

You made me giggle with the "Chinese mafia" statement! I hope my email by storm and constant-online-stalker behavior for Christmastime 2006 will somehow make a dent or I too will have my kneecaps taken care of as well ). I bought 8 mp4 players this year for gifts and only one hacked bad one so I feel pretty good after reading some of these poor souls that have had such bad experience with buying.
