Adventures in Ebayland

bought a 4GB player from Lowest_total_price, then figured I would learn as much about them as I can so that I can start enjoying it right away...thats when I found our little community here. That's when I started to see how deep Alice's little rabbit hole went. From viewing pictures it appears I ordered a Glacier. So I fired them off an email...waited..no reply. In the meantime while I was waiting for a reply I started warning the bidders about the scam (until I was blocked from contacting members...but that was only temporary, now I am back on the attack). After waiting a few days I used the email address on the paypal transaction to write them...waited..no reply ( imagine that ). So I fire off another email through ebay ( can you guess what happened ).. Then out of nowhere ..there in my inbox ..low and behold!!! a reply!! oooh wait , wasn't really a reply , just a notice to tell me my item was shipped. So I sent them another email addressing my concerns, telling them that this is the 4th time I have tried to contact them ect. Within 24 hours they replied.. ooh wait that wasn't really a reply either, just a letter telling me not to worry they shipped the item already and it should be there in a few days, not one mention of any of my prior emails, it's like they didn't even read them. I put a big red X on my wall with a sign that says BANG HEAD HERE.......Anyways as my adventure continues I will keep updating my post and let you all know how my story unfolds.
For now lets all just hold hands and sing "we shall o-ver cooomeee, we shall o-ver cooomee".

Re: Adventures in Ebayland

Ok now I am annoyed, logged into paypal...went to the open a dispute, Looking at screen thinking" hmmm I get 2000 characters to write my letter, i'd better make this good". So I start typing, and it's so beautiful like I was a really educated person, you know what I mean??? SO these words are flowing from my keyboard to the screen like a symphony between the $70 they scammed outta my wallet, and my minds desire..to get every penny of it back.
Now I got it all done and I am giving it a read through " SOUND OF SOMEONE READING"... YEA!!! (mummble) YEA!!! YEA!!!!!!!
PERFECT OUTSTANDING!!!
Nothing so profound had ever been written before ( Well in 2007 years anyways )
Now I hit next .....screen refreshes YOUR SESSION HAS TIMED OUT
I'm screaming at the monitor, " WHAT!!! NOOoooo!!! " WHY GOD??? WHY??!!
So there I am ..staring at a screen thats asking me if I want to file a complaint...minds blank...cant remember a thing that I wrote down in my first one,,, hoping that lightening could stike twice but it doesnt
I find myself typing I WANT MY MONEY BACK THIS WAS MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO MYSELF AND YOUUuuuu RUINED IT!!!! ARGGGGhhhhhh
Well I erased that and ended up making an essay style.
I want my money bause of the following reasons
1. blah blah blah
you get the picture I am sure...
well hold on kids this ride is heading up its first hill and no ones getting off until it comes to a complete stop.

Good Morning Group
woke up today and checked status on paypal, he responded with item was shippedvia hong kong post ( strange , item was in England, by player gets around like the traveling gnome, its already been to more countries than i have )
anyways i head on over to Ebay and Lowest_Total_price has 0 items for sale , I said WOW how about that yesterday he had almost 700 of those players for sale. just for laughs I took a look at E-Britian.....0 items for sale.
well kids keep your eyes open I have a feeling theres gonna be some "new" sellers out there with some super new 4GB+ players just waiting to offer us an unbelievably great deal on an mp4 player.
I have just 1 question, " Wheres my money!!!!???".
well off to work, see you all real soon

I have noticed that a scammer (buy_lowest) that I am currently dealing with has suddenly withdrawn all his auctions as well. Not sure how many but, there were pages of his current auctions this morning (All were 4gb MP4 players).

There can only be 2 explanations for the sudden departure.

1. Ebay finally took action against the users (aka abusers). I seriously doubt this as they have not done anything in the past. But, Perhaps enough people have complained - I know I have been emailing quite a bit regarding this scam.

2. The scammers are doing as they always have - ditch the account once too many negatives show. Start a new account and start selling hacked units again. Ebay has such relaxed policies, allowing full anonymity for the sellers. You don't even need an address to sell on Ebay. The scammer (buy_lowest) lists his street and city address as "default". Ebay doesn't seem to care as long as they get their cut of the profits.

I am leaning toward the second scenario as a simple Ebay search of "mp4 4gb" currently turns up 1965 items. Just about he same as when I did the search this AM.

Good luck to all.

mpj-mlj, I agree your second explanation is the most likely senario.
If you haven't already please add your details to the on-line petition HERE

tadad1,

I signed the petition.

I do have a question...

Can you sign more than once?
I did buy a total of 4 of these hacked units.

I did get a bit of customer support from some of the US sellers. One was cooperative, the other took a little more. My first purchase from jcl0924 was an immediate gift so, I was unaware of the scam prior to gifting the unit - he ended with a free pass.
