Hey everyone yes thats right another statistic and also a new member to your forum which i would like to say i think is great as i onluy stumbled across your site due to another player displaying "format error".

Havent figured out the "format error" issue yet but just wanted to do this first and inform you all of another mongruel out there.

People another shark out there to be very careful of and should be black listed is on ebay is the following : eby-star (yes this is the correct spelling) as i purchased this for about $70 Australian dollars and got done as this was advertised as a 4GB with no hacked advertised and low and behold upon reading alot of posts i checked my slick player only to reveal under the 2GB sticker on the samsung chip the following:K9LAG08U0M yes thats right and i thank you to the person who posted the following crutial information for all of us to be aware of : "the Samsung K9LAG08U0M is a 16Gigabit (2 GigaByte) memory chip"

Admin!

I would seem to me that people are asking for names to be added to the blacklist.

Somhow I feel they think that is good enough, and they feel they have done there bit with regards to sellers being put on the blacklist.

But I feel alot people are not following the link to the petition and signing it for themselves.

Am I wrong? I don't know but that is how it seems to me.

tadad1 29th Apr 2007 11:48 am

mekako, I think you're quite right some of the names reported here do not appear on the petition.

tadad1 1st May 2007 8:20 pm

Please do not just post traders names if you have been scammed. There are names here that are not on the petition so please take the time to sign the petition. Also I check to see if the trader has any negative feedback regarding hacked players so be sure to leave negative feedback. If I find a trader has no negative feedback to do with hacked players they will not be added to the list.

Also some signatures have invalid eBay trader names so be sure to spell the traders name correctly

Thanks to all who have signed the petition so far and please keep them coming.

Terry

Here's another to add to the list:

rayswlee062889

alleged 8gb Glacier. it has less than 2gb.

funny. 3 other sellers I have dealt with are on that list as well. each of their players crapped out within a month...

bycando 12th May 2007 6:50 pm

Is it possible to find out the paypal account behind their ebay account without before wining the auction? This way we can drastically reduce their perpetually-ebay-account-hoppings's effectiveness.

It would appear that the following eBay traders are all run by Tronfy Tech or Tronfy Technologies.

lowest_total_price
tinydealdirect
ygsm_mobiledigital
e-britain
factorypricestore
buy.mall!

Although as you point out there is only one negative feedback against tinydealdirect re hacked players, Tronfy's other accounts are some of the most prolific scammers on eBay totaling almost 100,000 sales. As such I have no problem blacklisting all of them.

[b]Come on Guys

Please don't ask Admin to put your sellers name on the Petition, he will only add names here once he has confirmed the details from the Petition Site, before adding names here.

Come on? lets all do our bit and hit these seller via the Petition if you feel you have been scammed, go there and sign it Please?

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

Greetings All,

I have found this site very useful. Thanks all.

I have received a hacked player from smile_plus168 also. I won a 2GB player and recieved a hacked player. I opened it and inspected the memory chip. It is Samsung K9L8G08U0A. Samsung spec says this is an 8 Gigabit (=1 Gigabyte) chip.

It had all the classic sysmptoms. Once real memory limit reached, file corruption, errors etc.

The player reported to windows that it had 2Gb. A sticker on the back shows 2GB. I low level formated it as per the hack removal instructions on this site and now it shows 1Gb.

It is now working correctly, thanks to this site.

The seller blames his/her supplier and is very polite but ultimately does not want to do anything about it.

regards,

mp3mp3

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

Dear all guys,

I come from Hong Kong. I despised those people selling hacked mp4. I am not sure if I can do something to stop it. Those sellers are really scum. I am sure not all the people behave like that. Honestly, I think complaining to ebay is not going to stop this freuds. May be filing a complaint to the Hong Kong Police is much more effective.

Thanks,
Jimmy

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

Dear all guys,

I have just made a phone call to the Hong Kong Police. The policeman just wanted to push the ball to the other department. He also asked me to complain to ebay. But I argued that the trading indeed happens in Hong Kong. The person selling hacked mp3 do know the mp3 players are hacked. You police can convict them and it depends very much on whether the police of Hong Kong will act on it. After a few minutes of arguing, he finally advised me to file a complaint to an email he gave me. That is cpu-dcd@police.gov.hk. Now I need a list of sellers who are resident in Hong Kong. May be we cannot stop all the scams, but at least we can stop some of them in Hong Kong!

Could you all sort off a list of sellers registered in Hong Kong?

Many thanks,
Jimmy

added another against jcl0924.. sent a message to him demanding a refund.. hoping i can get my money back..

the player was listed at 4gb.. after trying to get it to hold any files at all without corrupting itself I tried a format with the disk utility.. initially it read as 'disk format not recognized'.. a bit more research and a better format later the capacity reported at 17.8 mb (yeah.. blew my mind too).. which is a completely useless amount of memory..

Twich-
Below is what I wrote to the seller that ripped me off. I had to do some skip tracing work to get his personal info. As eBay only supplied me with partial contact information. I wrote this in the paypal dispute thingy. Also, I included a satellite photo of the sellers home.
Well, this was enough to get my money back. And after reading his feedback. It doesn't sound like he generally refunds monies.
You could try the same. Just change the letter to reflect your situation.

Seller committed fraud by selling me a hacked mp4 player.
Auction stated it was a 4gig player. In fact, it was hacked to show this amount. In reality, it is only 474mb. That is not even half of one gig.
Seller is part of a multi-million dollar scam that is all over eBay.
If my money is not returned in a timely fashion. I will spare no expense to see this man prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I will do this on princable alone.
Furthermore, if my concerns are ignored. I will file charges/complaints with (but, not limited to) the following agencies.
1. the IC3
2. the F.B.I
3. the District Attorney of Ventura county, CA
4. the State Attorney General of CA
5. the State Attorney General of MI
6. the BBB of California
7. the BBB of Michigan
8. the closest Police station to the sellers home
9. My local police station
10. eBay
11. And three more which I am not disclosing at this time
The sellers name is
Christopher F. Wake
2623 Antonio Dr.
Camarillo, CA 93010

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

I have signed the petition and urged everyone I know to do the same wether they were scammed or not. Thanks to Robjones from these forums and MRMUGGA on eBay I was alerted before I made a bid and lost my money.

I worked in Hong Kong for an electronics company and the stuff that is faulty, corrupted or old is thrown away. (Old stock items are thrown out to make way for new lines, and often these items have never even reached Europe or US/ Canada at this point, this is how upto date these guys are! An example of this is the box of 500GB Blu Ray Discs that I brought home with me. Yes 500GB not 50!)

Workers take the stuff and sell it through eBay etc and they just hope that they get the old stock instead of faulty goods to make an extra bit cash with. People see the item working but don't realise that the capacity is short or that the memory contains a virus etc. They just think they are getting a great deal. eBay knows all about this and yet they do nothing to stop it.

I urge you to give this a mention to everyone you know and to promote this petition as I will be doing on my own website, goneglobal.co.uk
Better to pay extra and get reputable goods.

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

Already in the list but I confirm : DISUBS

MP3 player (Nano G1 clone) buyed on 15 sept 2007.
eBay object 230171661072
paiement by Paypal to name : Chan lai Man.
object said to come from London but comes from Honk Kong.
Said 4GB. After verification : only 2 GB.
But the player works.

Not like the nano clone I bought to Chiching08 (already in the list too) in December. It was sais 4 GB and was only 2 GB, and the USB connector was loose.
Direct to trash.

I suspect Chiching and Disubs to be the same person because the auction text and pictures were exactly the same on eBay.
I'm not sure there a lot of bad chinese sellers on eBay. It's so easy to open or close an account.
Perhaps only a few bad sellers but with multiple accounts.
Perhaps only one. Or only one organisation. :?:

Just signed the petition for a friend who was scammed. The seller on ebay sold him a 8GB player but it is a 1 GB player. The player broke down, the hourglass came on and the player was stuck, did follow the tutorial on the site and woke the player, after a format found out it was a 1GB player. Only missing the correct software now.
contacted the seller, he told me after many emails he is gone pay back but nothing happened. finally had him with this petition.
forgot to put the name of the seller on the site : qualityserviceforyou

Sold me a 4GB player...turned out it's only 2GB of course. He's getting a decent amount of negative feedback for other hacked items, as well as shipping issue.

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

Dear Readers - We want to state that we have not scammed anyone and request that our name is immediately removed from this list. The moderator states that they do a complete check prior to posting company names and clearly this was not done for us.

Please check our feedback on eBay (100%) and the fact that we are selling Name Brand players. We also provide a 7 DAY NO QUESTIONS ASKED return policy with a one year manufacture warranty for most of our products. In addition we provide FREE to our customers warranty administration service so our customers do not have to deal with the Chinese manufacture as we know most of our customers do not speak chinese.

China Direct 2 U admonishes any person who feels they have not been treated fairly to contact us directly at legal@cd2u.net. Please explain your concern in detail and we will do our best to rectify the situation. We want all of our customers to be happy with their purchase and we are proving it daily with each business transaction.

Respectfully - we ask for this forum to correct the list and remove our company name. This is borderline slanderous and unfounded without validation.

Take care - your friends at CD2U

newit99 sold me two 4GB MP4 players that turned out to be 1GB. He even left me negative feedback for my neutral. He did offer me a $8 refund for each player, but then refunded me the whole amount. Now I can't pay him the agreed amount because his PayPal account is on hold :)

Also bought one from lilaiching, but not received it yet. When I asked him he said the player was actually a 2GB not 4GB and will give full refund if I'm not happy.

Another bad seller - u.choice aka us.choice

New one to add!!!

u.choice has now become us.choice

Waiting to get my supposed 4gb and see how much gb is really in there....

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

Based on my experience, eBay will ban these type of sellers. Recently I bought a 16GB USB stick and found that it is a fake. Contacted eBay and their Trust & Safety team. They acted fast by removing all listings of the seller. I also raised a dispute with PayPal and got a full refund.

According to eBay, many people leave positive feedbacks too early. So, do not rely of feedback ratings alone. There are some buying guides at eBay which are well worth a read.

Has the author of this list send it to eBay with some sort of proof?
If so what response did you get?

hi guy's
do you know if they can do this trick with usb flashsticks??

manq 10th Feb 2008 6:48 am

Re: 146 eBay traders reported as selling hacked players.

I bought a 2GB player of power_player88. Turned out to be a hacked 1GB.
I filed a complaint with pay-pal this is a copy of the last message I left :
I have been sent a player on which the memory has been hacked. Memory hacking is a process used to make a flash disk appear to have a larger capacity than it really has and it cannot be done not accidently. The item was clearly described as a 2 GB player. This capacity is also marked on the box and on the player itself so it cannot be a case of the wrong item being sent in error. Once properly formatted it is in only a 1GB To knowingly sell such an item would constitute fraud. The seller has several negative feedbacks for selling other such hacked devices. I want a full refund for my purchase. I will be happy to return the item at the seller's expense. It will cost €7.50 to send it registered post to Hong Kong but the seller has refused to pay for this and will not offer a refund until I return the item. Once a full refund plus an additional 7.50 euro has been deposited into my PayPal account I will gladly return the Item.

Well Pay-pal has decided in my favour but to get my money back I myst first return the player at my own ecpecse and provide tracking details.
Needless no say I am disgusted. I'm down an extra €7.50 and doubtful as to if or when I will get my refund.
