Default coolstuff_onlinestore

I ordered a 4GB and received a hacked player.
It looks like this one
Click the image to open in full size.

I found this thread on this forum: Blown-Z Ebay scam
So I copied the letter send by ikeg (thanks ikeg) and sent to coolstuff_onlinestore.
Quote:
Hello,

I recently purchased your MP4 player with 4GB of memory. I have posted my feedback on Ebay and I regret it.

It IS NOT a 4GB player.
When properly formatted it only has 2GB of flash memory.

This means that the memory was deliberately HACKED to show more than what the actual capacity is.

I am certain that you will want to ship a REAL 4GB player to me now that I have this FRAUD documented.

I am holding off on further action until I hear back from you on this account. I am hoping that you are also just as SHOCKED as I am about the product you are selling, and that YOU have been scammed as well. In either case, I would appreciate a refund or replacement at absolutely NO CHARGE to myself.

Please see the online petition here:
www.petitiononline.com/eBay666/petition.html

And also be advised that I would like resolution quickly so that I will not have to file a dispute with Ebay and Paypal.

Sincerely,
Me

4 days later I received this:

Quote:
"This mp4 is combined with 2 pcs. 2GB nano flash and one of the nano flash may have improper format or reset (disk error) by vibration during the delivery. So, you can return to us with full refund or we give you partial refund USD20.00 regarding resulted 2GB. Please advise which ways you want."
Then 4 mins later:

Quote:
"Sorry for our mistake. we have already issue USD25.00 to you. please check ur paypal a/c. We will leave good feedback to you. Thanks a lot. "

This is great or what?

tour93 , since you've got a $25 refund, i've got another idea.

Open the player, and see if the player really does indeed contain 2x2GB chips, most likely there will only be 1x2GB.
Then question the seller on where is the other "damaged" chip.

Next thing, if there is only 1x2GB chip, look for another empty space on the board meant for the "other second" 2GB chip.
If it isin't there, question the seller again on how is it possible to put 2x2GB chips when there is only 1 available slot for the chip.

Squeeze more refunds from him!

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

T39 doesn''t sound as good as my T29

I don't believe his excuse of course. I'm pretty sure that there is only 1 chip in it.
How much do you think one should pay for a 2"tft screen 2GB video player?
Walmart sells a Scandisk, 1.8", for $124. (the list expensive one)

The "hacking" process - making 2 gigs look like four - leads to instability and corrupted data. It might have been a BETTER deal if the vendor's dishonesty hadn't turned what was a fairly well specified player into something that needs to be modified before it works reliably.
