I'm much impressed how comfortable you seem with their strange language. Here is a sample from a 22 pages long user's manual I got with my chipod a single line of which I cannot make the barest sense.

"4.2.2 Broadcast the interface manifestation:
the knife man - impulsive punishment: broadcast the level is smooth to roll over."

Oh come on, that one's obvious. You're simply not trying. It means:

"Adjust the volume as you are playing the media file, lowering if distortion occurs".

The key to learning Chinglish is to just apply a bit of common sense here. If the volume (broadcast level) is so loud that your ears are bleeding, what would you call that? That's right, "impulsive punishment". This should be second nature to anyone who finished primary English grammar. And consumes a lot of magic mushrooms.

maybe the printer mistake the guide booklet with some law manual? still it does not help much...

I know everyone blames the printer, including the printers themselves, but it's usually the translator's fault. In China, you have to take a breathalyzer test before you can be allowed to translate. Passing the test means detecting a minimum level of alcohol in your bloodstream. Once it is determined that you are drunk enough, you can be allowed to translate instruction manuals for foreigners. Or, as they might say.....

"Big drunky make good knifeman for movement laggage in direction tiny book. "

Would you help michiganfrog, the GREAT MASTER OF CHINGLISH: Only "grow the press button", which comes again and again finally made sense to me: it seems in China plants grow towards the bottom: so read "grow the press button"= depress, push down ! in some sense they are right, if it grows, the roots should do the same in some ways. You've got it! "Grow the press button" does indeed mean "depress the button". You see, not that hard once you click in.
