Hello everyone!
Since I came home today only to be greeted by a little parcel from Hong Kong I decided to edit my thread accordingly. After all no one else has posted their personal experience with the above-mentioned ebay seller yet but I saw him on your blacklist when I had already bought the item *sigh*.
So... I bought this little black Nano clone on 8 Feb 2007 (
link to the auction), well aware that this seller is actually in Hong Kong not in London but what the heck, there are no shipping charges anyway.
The seller informed me that shipping could be delayed due to a Chinese national holiday. Since I had to go without ANY portable mp3 player after my beloved Trekstor mp3 stick died in December - precisely when the warranty had just expired - I was fine with that.
As I said, the player arrived today, 19 Feb 2007. The packing was okay even though I personally would have used more.
The player came with a (virus-free) mini CD I did not need as I had already downloaded the software here, earphones of less shoddy quality than I had feared, a manual that fried my braid due to the horrible translation, a USB cable and a UK plug you could add to it to use the whole thing as a charger and a white rubber... sleeve? What do you call that? Anyway, it fits very well and seems to have been made for this particular player but I think it's quite ugly *laughs*.
So... here is a picture featuring absolutely everything:
Player front and back:
I booted the player (and got nervous as the hourglass seemed to be displayed forever) and found that the buttons worked qute well.
Plugged in the earphones and listened to the two demo songs (Hotel Californa and Say You, Say Me) before I reformatted the little bugger to see how much storage space it really has.
There were a few additional files on it I couldn't be bothered to have a closer look at (an .amv named something like Beautiful Girl and two lyrics files for the songs).
Storage before reformatting:
Storage after reformatting:
Only then I took the time to have a closer look at the firmware version... showing here:
Heh. While I still think the price is OK given the storage (said Trekstor mp3 stick was more expensive but then again, it had an expansion slot) I think I will be stubborn and insist on a refund.
Already sent the seller a polite mail informing him that I had discovered that the player had less storage space than indicated. We'll see what the answer is.
To be continued...
